MGL, Oil India Ink Pact To Boost LNG And Clean Energy Projects

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution companies, and Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna public sector enterprise with integrated operations across the oil and gas value chain, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 6 October 2025.
The agreement was signed by MGL’s Vice President (BD, BIS, Commercial & STU) and OIL’s Executive Director (BD), in the presence of MGL’s Managing Director, along with OIL’s Director (Operations) and Director (HR).
MGL, which has successfully entered the LNG value chain, currently operates LNG retail stations and is expanding its portfolio of clean energy initiatives. Meanwhile, OIL is advancing an extensive hydrocarbon exploration and development programme, with plans to significantly increase gas production and expand its clean energy roadmap.
Under the MoU, the two organisations will collaborate to explore business opportunities across the LNG value chain and in emerging clean energy domains.
Commenting on the partnership, MGL’s Managing Director said,
“This collaboration with OIL will accelerate the adoption of cleaner fuels in the long-haul transport sector. It will enable corporates to transition towards greener logistics solutions and contribute to reducing overall pollution levels.”
OIL’s Director (Operations) added,
“The partnership will focus on assessing the technical and commercial feasibility of LNG in the heavy-duty transport segment and on developing scalable clean energy projects. Our goal is to move feasible pilots to commercial deployment.”
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment by both companies to promote sustainable energy alternatives, reduce emissions, and contribute to India’s clean energy transition.
