MLA Kulwant Singh Launches Plan to Improve Power Supply in SAS Nagar

MLA Kulwant Singh launched Rs 728 million plans to reduce power outages in SAS Nagar district. The launch event took place at the 66 KV grid substations in IT City, Mohali, where a new 31.5 MVA power transformer was also inaugurated. This initiative is part of Punjab’s larger Rs 5,000 million power infrastructure reform.
The district-level works included in the plan are aimed at improving power supply. These include feeder deloading worth Rs 172.2 million, installing new distribution transformers worth Rs 355 million, and upgrading existing transformers at a cost of Rs 32.6 million.
The plan also covers the construction of new 66 KV and 220 KV substations, with an estimated cost of Rs 354.2 million. Additionally, power transformer upgrades worth Rs 62.9 million and line strengthening works costing Rs 70.6 million are part of the project.
The virtual launch of the initiative was led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. In a related development, Mohali has been designated as the east zone headquarters for the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). A new chief engineer has been appointed to oversee operations from Nangal to Lalru, ensuring better supervision and faster project completion.
