The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced a significant expansion of its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), raising the total solar module manufacturing capacity to 28 GW. This move is aimed at accelerating the growth of India's solar energy sector and enhancing the country's renewable energy capabilities.

The ALMM, a crucial component of India's renewable energy policy, ensures that only quality-assured solar modules and manufacturers are used in government-supported projects. By expanding the list to include more manufacturers and increasing capacity, MNRE aims to drive higher standards and reliability in solar power generation.

This increase in capacity is expected to attract more investment into the solar manufacturing sector, fostering innovation and improving the overall quality of solar products available in the market. It will also support the government's ambitious target of achieving 100 GW of solar power by 2022 and 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
