MSEDCL and GEAPP Partner to Modernise Maharashtra’s Power Grid

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (MSEDCL) and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) have signed an agreement a Statement of Intent (SOI) to improve Maharashtra’s power distribution system.

The goal of this partnership is to speed up the shift to clean energy in the state. They plan to do this by using digital tools, advanced data analysis, and technology that makes the grid more reliable. These efforts will also help bring in more renewable energy sources and make the system more efficient.

The partnership will focus on digitalising the grid, which is part of the GEAPP’s Digitalisation of Utilities for Energy Transition program. They will also use Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to balance energy supply and manage peak demand, and they’ll work on managing Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) systems.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will be used to monitor equipment, predict when maintenance is needed, analyse energy flow, and forecast demand.

These technologies will help expand and improve the grid, making it more flexible and capable of handling changes in energy demand. This will help prevent blackouts and make the power supply more stable, especially in areas with fluctuating demand.
