Nagaland Signs PPA For 20 MW Solar Plant At Tizit
The project will be established to augment the state's renewable generation and to assist Nagaland in meeting its renewable consumption obligations set under prevailing regulations. The plant's 20 MW capacity is planned to be connected to the regional grid and contribute to seasonal and peak requirements. Planning documents indicate the installation will include necessary transmission works and site preparations overseen by the developer and state agencies.
The state currently records a peak electricity demand of 203 MW and anticipates this to rise to 482 MW by 2034-35, creating a clear rationale for capacity enhancement. The government said the agreement was signed to help address growing demand and to expand generation infrastructure in a phased manner. The procurement through a PPA is intended to secure long-term supply arrangements while meeting regulatory renewable targets.
Authorities indicated the initiative will also support broader objectives of energy security and grid stability in the hilly terrain of Nagaland. The developer will undertake construction and commissioning in coordination with local administrations, with arrangements for transmission and operation outlined in the PPA. The state administration described the project as consistent with its strategy to bolster generation capacity and to prepare for projected demand growth.
