Navitas Raises Up to US$20 mn for 2.2 GW Solar Cell Facility
The funding will support Navitas’ backward integration strategy as the company expands across India’s domestic solar manufacturing value chain. Navitas currently operates in solar module and encapsulant manufacturing, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable power generation.
The Surat-headquartered company also plans to enter wafer and ingot manufacturing. Its proposed solar cell facility is expected to deepen its upstream presence as India seeks to increase local production and reduce dependence on imported components. Centrum Capital’s Infrastructure Advisory arm acted as Navitas’ exclusive financial adviser for the transaction.
Founded in 2013, Navitas manufactures Mono PERC and N-Type TOPCon solar modules ranging from 40 Wp to 720 Wp. The company is also developing advanced technology capabilities, including work on TOPCon technology and a partnership with Caelux for Perovskite-TOPCon Hybrid Tandem modules.
The investment expands responsAbility’s clean-energy exposure in India, where its portfolio includes Ampin Energy Transition, August Energy and Euler Motors. Navitas said the capital would improve financial flexibility, help scale operations and strengthen manufacturing capabilities, while the company intends to focus on governance, environmental practices and responsible employment during its expansion.
