The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Delhi, has approved the joint Resolution Plan submitted by NTPC and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) for Sinnar Thermal Power (STPL). The order, issued on November 28, 2025, enables both entities to proceed with the next phase of the project’s revival.
STPL has been under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) in accordance with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. With the tribunal’s approval, the Resolution Plan will now be implemented in adherence to the conditions set out in the NCLT order and all applicable legal requirements.
Located in Sinnar, Nashik, STPL operates a coal-based thermal power station of 5×270 MW, totalling 1,350 MW. The clearance marks a significant milestone in efforts to restore the stalled project and reinforce Maharashtra’s power generation network.
The approval is expected to facilitate timely execution of the revival roadmap, strengthen regional power infrastructure and improve supply reliability for consumers.
