NHPC's Parbati-II Project in Himachal to Boost Annual Revenue

State-owned NHPC has announced that the annual revenue of its 520-MW Parbati-III Power Station will rise by Rs 2.25 billion once the 800-MW Parbati-II project in Himachal Pradesh begins operations. Currently, the 520-MW Parbati-III power station generates 572 million units (MUs) of electricity, but this is expected to increase to 1,669 MUs in 2025-26. The operationalisation of the Parbati-II hydroelectric project (4X200 MW) is expected to boost the revenue of Parbati-III Power Station to Rs 4.25 billion in FY26, up from Rs 2.01 billion in FY25. The Parbati-III power station, commissioned in 2014, is located downstream of the Parbati-II Power House. Parbati-II, a run-of-the-river project, harnesses the hydroelectric potential of the lower reaches of the river Parbati. The project utilises an 863-meter gross head between the Pulga and Suind areas to generate 800 MW of electricity. Commercial supplies from Parbati-II began recently. (Print)
