State-owned power producer NTPC has declared the commercial commissioning of 359.58 MW of solar capacity across projects operated by its subsidiaries in Gujarat and Rajasthan, taking the group’s total commercial capacity to over 85.5 GW.

NTPC said it has achieved the commercial operation date for 243.66 MW of capacity from the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV project in Gujarat, implemented by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC through NTPC Green Energy Limited.

In Rajasthan, the company declared commercial operation of 78 MW from its 245 MW Nokh Solar PV project, part of the broader 3 x 245 MW Nokh solar development. NTPC also commissioned 37.93 MW of capacity from the 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, which falls under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project in Gujarat and is being executed by NTPC REL.

With these additions, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC group has reached 85,541 MW. NTPC currently contributes around one-fourth of India’s total power requirements and has an installed capacity of over 85 GW, with an additional 30.9 GW under construction. This includes 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity.

The company has committed to achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, supporting India’s Net Zero ambitions. NTPC operates a diversified portfolio spanning thermal, hydro, solar and wind power, and has expanded into new business areas such as electric mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power and green hydrogen solutions.
