NTPC Commissions 153.94 MW Solar Capacity in Rajasthan
The latest commissioning brings the total capacity commissioned from the project’s 650 MW solar component to 153.94 MW. The solar component forms part of the 500 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project being developed for Railways Energy Management Corporation (REMCL) by NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy.
Following the project’s commercial operation, NTPC Green Energy’s group commercial capacity stands at 11,058.57 MW. The addition increases the group’s total installed capacity to 11,212.51 MW, according to the company’s regulatory filing.
The commissioning is aligned with NTPC Green Energy management’s plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio over the coming months. The company has previously outlined plans to add around 1,000 MW at Khavda, 200 MW at Bhadla and 250 MW at Kalasar. It also plans to add around 300 MW of wind capacity from its Gujarat plants and between 500 MW and 550 MW through its Ayana portfolio.
Earlier this year, Rays Power Infra, through its subsidiary Bhalki Solar Power, secured a 200 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project for supplying green power to REMCL. The project will combine more than 700 MW of solar and wind capacity with over 1,000 MWh of battery energy storage system capacity and is scheduled for commissioning by June 2028. These developments support the broader objective of building a 5 GW renewable energy portfolio.
