NTPC Green Energy Commissions 165 MW At Khavda-II

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NTPC Green Energy) has declared 165 megawatt (MW) of solar capacity at its Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat as commercially operational, marking the second phase of the 1,200 megawatt project. The capacity was executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, and became operational from midnight on 20 February 2026, according to a regulatory filing. The announcement reflects the company’s phased approach to project delivery. The Khavda site is part of a concentrated effort to develop utility scale renewable projects in the region.

Khavda-II follows an earlier commissioned tranche of 210 MW, bringing the project’s operational capacity to 375 MW to date. The facility forms part of a larger cluster of solar installations in Khavda that are emerging as a strategic hub for large scale solar development in the state. The addition underscores continued investment in utility scale photovoltaic infrastructure.

NTPC Green Energy’s total commercial capacity has increased from 8,827.68 MW to 8,992.68 MW, bringing the group close to nine gigawatt (GW) of installed commercial capacity. The milestone reflects the company’s continued focus on scaling up clean energy assets through its subsidiary platform. The capacity addition is expected to contribute to India’s broader transition towards renewable power generation. Reaching near nine GW of commercial capacity positions the group among the largest renewable generators in the country.

NTPC Green Energy is developing the Khavda project in phases as part of its broader renewable energy expansion strategy and continues to leverage its subsidiary structure for project execution. The commissioning signals a steady pace of capacity build out amid increasing demand for low carbon generation across the region. The company will continue to pursue further phases to reach the full 1,200 MW target. Further phases are planned to complete the full scope.
