NTPC Green Energy Signs MoU With Assago For Green Urea
The memorandum was executed as a formal disclosure and will be followed by further technical collaborations and detailed studies to assess plant design and utility integration. The scope includes coordinated supply arrangements and renewable energy linkage to support continuous operations. The signing took place in the presence of senior officials from NGEL, NTPC and Assago.
The partnership is intended to advance the development of a green hydrogen and green fertiliser supply chain in the region and to reduce carbon intensity associated with conventional urea production. NGEL will explore optimisation of renewable energy resources and storage integration to enable steady ammonia synthesis and carbon dioxide capture utilisation. The arrangement is consistent with national decarbonisation objectives and the broader transition to low carbon industrial supply chains.
Next steps include completion of technical due diligence, clarification of commercial terms and finalisation of a long form agreement that will set out supply, pricing and operational modalities. The parties will undertake joint assessments and regulatory clearances as required while maintaining coordination with local stakeholders and grid operators. The memorandum was disclosed to the stock exchanges in compliance with listing obligations. The collaboration is expected to support domestic production capacity and reduce dependence on imported fertiliser feedstocks.
