NTPC REL Awards 300 MW Solar EPC Project to Enrich

Enrich Energy has been awarded a 300 MW solar EPC project by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) at NTPC Anta in Rajasthan. The tender was issued in October and the contract was awarded after six months. Enrich will deliver the plant under a turnkey contract, reinforcing its portfolio in large-scale utility solar projects.

Under the contract Enrich Energy will be responsible for arranging land and undertaking design, engineering, manufacture, transportation, storage, installation and commissioning of the plant. The company will also handle identification, acquisition and complete transfer of ownership or lease of encumbrance-free land in favour of NTPC REL. The scope covers execution of all EPC works using open-category PV modules.

The developer must establish a power evacuation system up to the NTPC Anta 220 kV switchyard and provide telemetry connectivity to the ISTS pooling substation through the NTPC Anta substation in line with detailed technical specifications and applicable standards. Specifications include CCTV systems and grid compliance measures such as reactive power compensation and harmonics control. The scope also envisages laying a dedicated transmission line with right-of-way clearances and constructing a terminal bay and a new 220 kV bay at the Anta switchyard.

The contract includes operation and maintenance provision for a period of three years post commissioning. The tender stipulates compliance with NTPC REL standards and timely delivery to support federal clean energy targets. The award follows previous work at Anta where Amara Raja Infra Private Limited (ARIPL), part of the US$2 bn Amara Raja Group, commissioned an Anta 90 MW/135 MWp ground-mounted solar PV project.

That earlier project spanned a 437-acre site in Anta, Baran district, and was the country’s first Balance of System solar contract awarded by a central public sector undertaking in 2021. It was expected to generate 213 mn units of green energy annually and was commissioned within the existing premises of NTPC’s gas-fired thermal power station in Anta. Enrich’s award is positioned as a further step in strengthening national renewable infrastructure.
