Nxtra to Source 125 MW More Green Power from Ampin

Nxtra by Airtel announced on Monday that it will procure an additional 125.65 megawatts of renewable energy from Ampin Energy Transition under a new agreement, pushing their total partnership to over 200 megawatts.
The expanded collaboration will supply solar-wind hybrid energy through Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected plants. “Nxtra by Airtel and Ampin Energy Transition have strengthened their partnership with a new power-wheeling agreement for 125.65 MW of hybrid clean energy,” the company stated.
This latest capacity addition will be delivered in two phases via captive projects located in Rajasthan and Karnataka. Nxtra had previously signed two agreements with Ampin to source around 75 MW of green power.
Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, said, “This achievement highlights our leadership in using ISTS-backed clean energy to sustainably power our facilities, enhance reliability, and ensure measurable climate impact.”
Ampin has already been supplying solar power to Nxtra through intra-state open access in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha. Under the new agreement, Ampin will expand its services to 11 additional states, offering large-scale ISTS renewable power and a unified supply solution from a single Independent Power Producer (IPP).
“With this partnership, we prove that combining inter- and intra-state renewable energy backed by nationwide presence can enable customers to transition to nearly 100 per cent clean energy,” said Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Ampin Energy Transition. He added that Nxtra, a key player in the rapidly growing data centre sector, shares Ampin’s sustainability vision.
Nxtra joined the global RE100 initiative in June 2024, committing to source 100 per cent of its electricity needs from renewable sources.
