Offgrid Energy Labs Raises USD 15 Mn for Zinc Battery Scale-Up
Offgrid Energy Labs has secured USD 15 million (approx. Rs 1.25 billion) in funding to scale up its proprietary ZincGel battery technology, expand operations, and drive wider market adoption, according to media reports.
The investment will enable the company to commercialise its zinc-based energy storage systems, enhance manufacturing capabilities, and strengthen its presence in both domestic and international markets. The firm is positioning ZincGel as a safer, more sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries for large-scale energy storage applications.
Founded in 2018, Offgrid Energy Labs develops high-performance, recyclable energy storage solutions, with a focus on safety and environmental impact. Its zinc-based batteries are targeted for use in renewable energy integration, grid stability, and mobility sectors.
The company has been collaborating with partners and pilot customers to test ZincGel’s feasibility across various use cases. The fresh capital will help accelerate strategic partnerships, scale production, and broaden deployment in India and overseas.
This funding round also reflects a rising global interest in lithium-ion alternatives, as the need for decarbonised, efficient energy storage solutions continues to grow in tandem with the transition to renewables and electrification.
