Ola Electric Rolls Out Shakti, Enters Residential BESS Market

Ola Electric has recently announced the roll-out of its first energy storage system, Shakti, from its Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The milestone marks the scaling up of the company’s 4680 Bharat Cell platform and its entry into India’s residential battery energy storage system (BESS) market, taking Ola Electric beyond the automotive segment.
Developed and manufactured at the Gigafactory, Shakti reflects the company’s focus on innovation, localisation and advanced manufacturing. The product is positioned as a portable, on-demand energy solution for Indian households, farms and businesses, supporting decentralised and clean energy consumption.
A spokesperson for Ola Electric said the roll-out represents a defining step in building India’s future energy ecosystem, with Shakti enabling reliable, affordable and intelligent energy storage powered by indigenous cell technology.
Shakti offers automotive-grade safety, high efficiency and zero running and maintenance costs. It features instant 0 ms changeover, operates across a 200V–240V input range to protect appliances from voltage fluctuations, and uses IP67-rated, spill-proof batteries tested for dust and water resistance.
The system enables intelligent energy management through real-time monitoring, automated optimisation based on usage patterns and actionable insights for cost and energy savings. Shakti is available in four configurations—1kW/1.5kWh, 1kW/3kWh, 3kW/5.2kWh and 6kW/9.1kWh—capable of powering appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers and farm pumps.
Charging times are as low as two hours, with backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours at full load. Reservations for Ola Shakti are open on the Ola Electric website at Rs 999.
