Patel Engineering Wins Rs 2.39 Bn Hydro Project from NHPC

Patel Engineering (PEL) has secured a contract worth Rs 2.39 billion (inclusive of taxes) from NHPC for civil and hydro-mechanical works under Package 6 of the Teesta-V Power Station in Sikkim.

The scope involves modification of the diversion tunnel into a tunnel spillway arrangement. Key works include the construction of the tunnel spillway, gate operation chamber and shaft, precast bridge, access road, energy dissipation structures, dyke, environmental flow tunnel, and other associated infrastructure.

Located in the South District of Sikkim, the project is slated for completion within 18 months.

Commenting on the award, Managing Director Kavita Shirvaikar said, "We are honoured to receive the LOA from NHPC for this strategically important hydro power project. Our deep experience in the North Eastern region positions us strongly to execute this project with precision and efficiency. This win is another step toward our vision of contributing meaningfully to India’s clean energy future."

PEL is also executing NHPC’s Teesta-VI hydroelectric project (Lot-2), located near Singtam town, around 30 km from the current site, reinforcing the company’s regional expertise and project execution capabilities.
