PM-KUSUM 2.0 targets farmer-led renewable energy

The government is planning PM-KUSUM 2.0 to enable farmers to become renewable energy producers through decentralised solar generation and agricultural applications. The initiative aims to expand solar pumps, support installation of renewable energy systems and provide farmers with opportunities to generate additional income by supplying clean power. The programme will build on earlier phases of PM-KUSUM, which focused on solarising agricultural pumps, developing decentralised solar plants and reducing dependence on conventional electricity sources in rural areas.
