PM Surya Ghar Yojana Hits 2,619,879 Rooftop Installations
Since its launch the scheme has delivered 2,619,879 RTS installations across the country as on 19.03.2026. The ministry reported that a total of Rs 179.68 billion (bn) has been disbursed as central financial assistance to beneficiaries as on 19.03.2026. State and union territory level and year wise details were provided in an annexure.
The entire process from application to disbursal is online through the National Portal and, when credentials are entered correctly, the ministry indicated that average processing of the subsidy takes around 15 days following a consumer redemption request. The government has simplified regulatory approvals by waiving technical feasibility requirements and introducing automatic load enhancement up to 10 kilowatt (kW). Net metering agreements have been incorporated into the portal application to streamline grid interactions.
MNRE and REC Limited, as the National Programme Implementing Agency (NPIA), act in close coordination with distribution companies to ensure effective implementation and timely payments under the programme. The Minister of State provided the information in Rajya Sabha. The rollout reflects an early large scale delivery of rooftop solar capacity and the ministry indicated that ongoing digital processing and cooperation with DISCOMs are central to meeting the remaining target by the financial year end.
