PMG Meets to Fast‑Track Rs 363 bn Projects in Gujarat, Rajasthan
A high‑level Project Monitoring Group (PMG) review on 3 July 2025 examined 22 lingering issues affecting 18 big‑ticket schemes in Gujarat and Rajasthan, together valued at roughly Rs 363 billion.
Centre‑stage was a Rs 141.5 billion transmission‑strengthening programme designed to move solar power from resource‑rich zones—Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Barmer in Rajasthan, plus Surendranagar, Patan and Kutch in Gujarat—into the national grid via new high‑capacity lines and substations. Officials focused on resolving right‑of‑way and land‑acquisition obstacles to hasten delivery.
The meeting also assessed Reliance Jio’s nationally significant 5G/4G rollout, aimed at extending next‑generation mobile coverage to remote districts while reinforcing the existing 4G backbone. State authorities were urged to expedite clearances for pending forest‑land matters so the network upgrade can proceed without delay.
Chairing the session, DPIIT Principal Economic Adviser Praveen Mahto reiterated the Government’s resolve to strengthen institutional project oversight. He called on ministries, state departments and private developers to use the PMG platform proactively, stressing that seamless co‑ordination among all stakeholders is essential for on‑time execution.
Senior representatives of central and state governments, along with key project sponsors, attended the review, underscoring a shared commitment to swift, collaborative infrastructure development across western India.
