POWERGRID Commissions Transmission Project for 2.5 GW Solar Zone
The project achieved its Date of Commercial Operation (DOCO) on October 5, 2026. POWERGRID received the corresponding notification by email on October 8, 2026, confirming that the transmission asset had entered commercial service.
The project was initially entrusted to POWERGRID Bidar Transmission, a wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. The entity was subsequently amalgamated with POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission, effective March 1, 2026. The amalgamation followed an order dated January 27, 2026, issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The commissioning adds to the transmission infrastructure being developed across Karnataka for renewable power projects. Kshema Power has secured an order to develop transmission infrastructure for a 315 MW wind power project, while Jyoti Structures commissioned the 400 kV Gadag–II Transmission Line for ReNew Power. That line supports the evacuation of renewable energy from the Koppal Solar Energy Zone, which has an estimated generation capacity of 1,500 MW, under the Build, Own, Operate and Maintain model.
Bajel Projects has also secured the Bellary–Davanagere transmission line Package TL01 order. The package covers a second 400 kV quad double-circuit line intended to integrate an additional renewable energy potential of 0.25 GW at Davanagere and 2.75 GW at Bellary. The 70 km line will connect the Bellary Substation with the Davanagere Substation and form a link for evacuating renewable power into the national grid.
