Premier Energies Commissions Five Point Six GW Solar Facility

Premier Energies Limited has commissioned a five point six GW solar module manufacturing facility at Seetharampur in Telangana, with trial production under way. The plant spans 75 acres and is expected to create approximately 2,000 jobs, supporting the local economy and strengthening India’s clean energy manufacturing ecosystem. With this addition, Premier Energies’ total solar module capacity has reached 11.1 GW, consolidating its position among India’s largest solar manufacturers and enhancing its ability to serve domestic and global markets.

The new facility incorporates a highly automated manufacturing line capable of producing four G12R TOPCon high efficiency modules every 16 seconds, improving throughput and capacity utilisation. Automation and AI powered fault detection are integrated to identify and correct defects in real time, thereby enhancing module reliability and performance. High automation is expected to reduce operating costs and ensure consistent quality across production runs.

Integration of TOPCon technology with Zero Busbar architecture is intended to deliver higher energy yield, lower optical losses and improved durability, meeting requirements across utility scale and distributed projects. The plant’s technical features are positioned to support both domestic deployment and exports, thereby contributing to supply chain resilience. Company representatives indicated that the facility aligns with a strategic roadmap to scale integrated manufacturing and meet rising global demand for high efficiency solar solutions.

Premier Energies is pursuing a Rs 125,000 mn capital expenditure programme over three years to more than double its solar manufacturing capacity, expand backward integration into ingots and wafers and diversify into inverters, transformers and battery systems. The company has a 30 year track record in solar manufacturing and has been recognised for technology innovation, sustainability and an employee centric culture, holding Great Place To Work certification for five consecutive years. The commissioning of the Seetharampur plant is presented as a step towards a fully integrated domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.
