Power Grid emerged as the Transmission Service Provider through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding process for development on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis.
The handover on 24 September 2025 was conducted by Shri T.S.C. Bosh, CEO, RECPDCL, to Arup Kumar Samanta, Senior DGM, Company Secretariat, Power Grid, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Power Grid and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited. The implementation period is 24 months.
The scope centres on strengthening the Davanagere Pooling Station by adding 1x1500 MVA 765/400 kV ICT and 4x500 MVA 400/220 kV ICTs with associated 220 kV line bays. The upgrade will enhance transformation capacity, reliability and grid resilience in a high-growth demand zone. The estimated project cost is around Rs 366.26 crore.
