Reliance Infrastructure Ltd has received a Letter of Award from NHPC, a Navratna public sector enterprise, for a 390 MW solar power project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project will include 700 MW of solar DC capacity alongside 780 MWhr of battery storage.

The contract was awarded at a tariff of Rs 3.13 per kWh, making it among the most competitively priced renewable energy projects in India. The auction process, which attracted 15 bidders, was oversubscribed by nearly four times, highlighting strong industry interest.

This award significantly enhances Reliance Group’s renewable portfolio. Together with Reliance Power’s existing 2.5 GWp of solar and 2.5 GWhr of BESS capacity, the group now commands over 3 GWp of solar DC capacity and more than 3.5 GWhr of battery storage, cementing its position as India’s largest player in the integrated solar-plus-battery segment.

The project is part of NHPC’s larger tender of 1,200 MW solar and 600 MW/2,400 MWhr BESS capacity for interstate transmission system-connected renewable infrastructure. The high level of participation underscores the growing demand for dispatchable renewable solutions that support grid stability.

This development supports India’s clean energy transition goals while reinforcing Reliance Infrastructure’s strategic focus on sustainable infrastructure.
