Reliance Infra Wins 700 MW Solar Plus Storage Deal

Reliance Infrastructure Limited has received a Letter of Award from NHPC, a leading Navratna public sector enterprise, for developing an interstate transmission system-connected solar power project with integrated battery storage. The project will feature 700 MWp of solar DC capacity and 780 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS), reinforcing the company’s position as a frontrunner in India’s renewable energy sector.
The winning tariff was discovered at Rs 3.13 per kWh, placing the project among the most competitively priced in India’s renewable energy landscape. The NHPC tender, oversubscribed by nearly four times, attracted 15 bidders, of which 14 qualified for the e-reverse auction, highlighting the strong industry interest in dispatchable renewable energy solutions.
With this award, Reliance Group’s renewable energy pipeline expands to over 3 GWp of solar capacity and 3.5 GWh of battery storage, making it India’s largest player in the integrated solar and storage segment. Reliance Power already operates nearly 2.5 GWp of solar and 2.5 GWh of BESS capacity, and the addition of this new project further consolidates its leadership.
The achievement underscores Reliance Infrastructure’s commitment to supporting India’s energy transition and shaping a sustainable future. The group continues to advance its strategic vision of diversifying into clean energy while maintaining strong capabilities in engineering, construction, and infrastructure across power, roads, metro, and defence sectors.
