The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has published an updated Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar modules, adding six new entrants to the roster. The update mainly covers manufacturers in Gujarat and Rajasthan and reinforces the regulatory framework for eligible module models. The list is intended to guide procurement for government programmes and support transparency in domestic manufacturing.

Vikram Solar’s Kancheepuram plant in Tamil Nadu was listed with a total capacity of 3,358 megawatt (MW) and will supply glass-to-glass bifacial N-type TOPCon modules. Rajasthan-based Startup Energy Pvt Ltd entered with 1,034 MW of capacity producing the same module technology. Surat-based Army Solar was recorded with 622 MW while Sahjanand Green Energy secured 193 MW and will produce both mono-PERC and N-type TOPCon glass-to-glass modules. Rajdeep Solar Energy was enlisted with 194 MW for glass-to-transparent backsheet mono-PERC modules and Jaipur-based Best Apartment Pvt Ltd was listed with 1,105 MW producing N-type TOPCon glass-to-glass modules.

The update also records capacity additions from Insolation Energy, Swelect HHV Solar, Nithin Sai Renewables, Solex Energy, Macwin Solar and Websol Energy System, and it notes that Goldi Sun Pvt Ltd added new glass-to-glass N-type TOPCon modules. These adjustments reflect incremental scaling by multiple manufacturers to meet qualifying standards under the ALMM. The MNRE listing therefore captures both new entrants and incremental capacity changes across the sector.

The current ALMM encompasses 120 enlisted solar module manufacturing facilities with a combined capacity of approximately 113 gigawatt (GW). Waaree Energies remains the largest listed manufacturer with a capacity of around 17 GW. The concentration of recent entrants in western India highlights regional manufacturing clusters and supply chain developments.

Market participants expect the refreshed list to influence procurement choices and domestic supply chains by clarifying eligible technologies and capacities, while policymakers aim to strengthen local manufacturing. The MNRE updates are positioned as part of broader efforts to scale solar manufacturing and support renewable energy deployment across the country.
