SJVN Reaches One bn Units At 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Project
The Bikaner project, located in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, has been developed and implemented by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) under the Central Public Sector Undertaking Scheme Phase II, Tranche III of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The foundation stone was laid by the President of India on three January 2023 and the project declared commercial operation on 24 December 2025. The facility is expected to generate 2,454.55 mn units in its first year of operation.
Over a 25 year span the plant is projected to deliver 56 bn units cumulatively and to reduce carbon emissions by two point seven eight mn t over its operational life. The tariff for supplied power has been fixed at Rs two point five seven per unit, ensuring competitively priced green energy. Electricity from the plant will be allocated to Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, supporting regional supply and energy security.
Company leadership described the milestone as evidence of technical excellence and operational efficiency and said SJVN will continue to expand its renewable portfolio in support of the Government of India's vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity. SGEL was credited with delivering the project within stipulated timelines and with achieving early generation benchmarks, with the Bikaner plant presented as a model for future large scale renewable projects. The development is expected to contribute meaningfully to environmental sustainability and national energy goals.
