Phase one of a solar powered Integrated Barrack Complex was opened at the Aviation Security Group of Cochin Airport on Sunday, marking a step towards strengthening personnel welfare and operational preparedness of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The inauguration was led by the CISF director general, Praveer Ranjan, and the project was developed to provide improved accommodation and support services for deployed personnel in the aviation security unit.

The project was delivered with financial support from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) management and occupies five point two six acres, with a built up area of approximately zero point one one mn sq ft. The complex was constructed at a cost of Rs 650 mn and has accommodation capacity for 655 people. The scale of investment and capacity reflect an emphasis on long term infrastructure to sustain operational demands and personnel needs.

The facility is solar powered and has been designed to promote sustainability while enhancing living standards for CISF personnel. Accommodation comprises well ventilated rooms with ample natural light together with modern kitchen and dining facilities to serve deployed staff. A Sainik Sammelan Hall is included to support gatherings and briefings, with seating for 400 personnel, and ancillary spaces have been arranged to improve hygiene, circulation and daily functioning.

The phase one opening is expected to strengthen preparedness at the aviation security unit and to improve welfare outcomes for personnel. Further phases have been envisaged as part of a staged development plan and will build on the established facilities and operational practices without altering the primary aims of sustainability and readiness. Management oversight by CIAL and CISF is intended to ensure effective use and maintenance of the complex.
