NHPC Limited, India's leading hydroelectric power company, has engaged in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RITES, a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. The primary goal of this collaboration is to establish a railway siding in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, in support of NHPC's ambitious 2,880 MW Dibang Multi-Purpose Project. The partnership between NHPC and RITES proves to be a strategic alliance, as both entities contribute their distinct expertise to the endeavor. RITES, taking on the role of a Project Management Consultant, will leverage its core proficiencies to provide effective solutions for the development of railway infrastructure, not only for NHPC's Dibang project but also for upcoming initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh.

Formalizing the agreement took place on August 21, 2023, at NHPC's Corporate Office in Faridabad. The signing event saw the participation of key individuals such as the General Manager (Civil) of Dibang, the Executive Director from RITES, NHPC's Director (Projects) Shri Biswajit Basu, the Executive Director (Dibang) from NHPC, and the pertinent Executive Director from the Corporate Office.

NHPC Limited is the foremost hydropower company in India, boasting a total installed capacity of 7,097.2 Megawatts in renewable energy, which encompasses solar and wind sources. This capacity is distributed across 25 power stations, including 1,520 Megawatts generated through its subsidiaries.

On the other hand, RITES Limited holds a prominent position in India's transport consultancy and engineering sector. Operating as a Miniratna (Category-I) Schedule ‘A’ Public Sector Enterprise, RITES delivers a wide array of services across various sectors, covering a substantial geographical expanse.
