Suzlon Expands NTPC Green Energy Partnership to 1,544 MW

Furthering its strategic focus on long-term, high-impact collaborations, Suzlon Group has deepened its partnership with NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL), expanding the total contracted capacity to 1,544 MW. This follows the latest project award of 378 MW, reinforcing Suzlon’s market leadership and commitment to sustainable, large-scale growth in India’s renewable energy sector.

The new project will be executed in the Gadag region of Karnataka and involves the supply of 120 of Suzlon’s S144 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). Each turbine is rated at 3.15 MW and mounted on Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT). This marks the second order from NTPC Green Energy in less than eight months, a testament to the strengthening relationship between the two organisations.

As part of the contract, Suzlon will be responsible not only for supplying the turbines but also for the complete foundation, erection, and commissioning of the project. Additionally, Suzlon will provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of the Suzlon Group, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “We are honoured to be a strategic partner in NTPC’s ambitious vision to accelerate India’s clean energy transition. As NGEL aims to expand its renewable portfolio to 60 GW by 2032, this partnership showcases the key role of wind in powering India’s largest public sector utility’s journey. From our first project in Gujarat to our expansion into Karnataka, our shared vision continues to advance India’s leadership in the global clean energy movement.”

JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of the Suzlon Group, echoed the sentiment, highlighting that securing major, high-quality projects in the public sector is central to Suzlon’s growth strategy. “Our continued engagement with NGEL is a reflection of our ability to deliver reliable, scalable wind energy solutions while contributing meaningfully to India’s energy transition. This partnership strengthens our position as a trusted partner in the country’s renewable energy journey,” he said.
