Tata Power has commissioned the second element of the Jalpura-Khurja transmission project in Uttar Pradesh, strengthening the state's power transmission infrastructure and improving connectivity to growing electricity demand centres across the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. The work was executed by TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power. The commissioning follows the company's ongoing efforts to expand high-voltage transmission capacity in the region.

The second element comprises a 400 kilovolt (kV) double-circuit transmission line between Khurja and Jalpura spanning 162 circuit kilometres (CKM) and a 400/220 kilovolt (kV) gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at Jalpura with 1,000 megavolt ampere (MVA) transformation capacity. The 162 CKM corridor consists of two circuits of approximately 81 kilometre each and establishes a critical high-voltage link between Khurja and Jalpura. Khurja functions as an important power node in western Uttar Pradesh and plays a strategic role in enabling efficient transmission towards the National Capital Region and Noida.

The newly commissioned 400/220 kV GIS substation at Jalpura will act as a major power gateway, enabling transfer of power from the 400 kV grid to the 220 kV network and supporting the region's rising electricity needs. The substation is expected to improve reliability, resilience and efficiency of the transmission network while facilitating load management across connected centres. The arrangement will reduce bottlenecks and support distribution planning as demand grows.

Tata Power's transmission portfolio now totals 7,900 circuit kilometres of lines operational and under execution across India, reinforcing the company's role in strengthening the nation's electricity transmission network. The commissioning forms part of a broader strategy to expand transmission capacity to meet projected demand in key load centres. The company will continue to pursue projects that enhance grid stability and interregional connectivity.
