Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) to demonstrate Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology in North Delhi. This initiative aims to integrate electric vehicles (EVs) into the grid, allowing them to not only draw power but also supply it back during peak demand periods, thus enhancing grid stability and efficiency.

V2G technology is a crucial component of smart grids, providing a bi-directional flow of electricity between EVs and the power grid. This system enables EVs to serve as mobile energy storage units, which can help balance supply and demand, reduce energy costs, and support the use of renewable energy sources.

Under this partnership, Tata Power-DDL and ISGF will work together to create a pilot project demonstrating the operational and economic benefits of V2G technology. The project will involve setting up the necessary infrastructure, including charging stations equipped with V2G capabilities and advanced grid management systems to handle the bi-directional energy flow.

Praveen Agrawal, Chief of Human Resources and Industrial Relations at Tata Power-DDL, emphasised that this collaboration aligns with the company?s commitment to innovation and sustainability. By leveraging V2G technology, Tata Power-DDL aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its power distribution network while promoting the adoption of electric vehicles.

The demonstration project will serve as a blueprint for future V2G implementations, potentially leading to broader deployment across India. This initiative highlights Tata Power-DDL's dedication to pioneering advanced technologies and fostering sustainable development in the power sector.
