Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd has commissioned a 10-megawatt captive solar power plant at its Raipur facility in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step in its green energy transition, the company announced on Friday.

Developed in collaboration with AMP Energy India, the solar project represents a milestone in Texmaco’s sustainability roadmap. The plant is expected to generate over 15 million units of clean electricity annually for the company’s Raipur operations, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 12,000 tonnes each year.

“This is not just a sustainability checkbox; it’s a forward-looking step towards redefining how Indian industry powers its future,” said Indrajit Mookerjee, Vice Chairman & Executive Director, Texmaco Rail.

The project has been implemented under the Group Captive Open Access Policy, allowing Texmaco enhanced control over power sourcing, with projected cost savings of 30 to 40 per cent and reduced dependency on the central power grid.
