Tranter Chosen as Key Supplier for UK’s Flagship Carbon Capture Project

Tranter has secured a major contract to supply gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchangers for the Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power) project, set to become the world’s first gas-fired power plant equipped with commercial-scale carbon capture technology.

Designed to deliver over 740 MW of flexible, low-carbon power—enough to supply more than one million UK homes—NZT Power will capture up to two million tonnes of CO₂ annually. The captured CO₂ will be transported and stored by the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), supporting decarbonization across the East Coast Cluster in Teesside and the Humber.

Under the order, Tranter will supply 40 large stainless-steel plate-and-frame heat exchangers fitted with EPDM or NBR gaskets. The contract was awarded by Technip Energies, which is leading the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) consortium with GE Vernova and Balfour Beatty for NZT Power and NEP’s onshore Power, Capture and Compression facilities.

Located just an hour from Tranter’s Operations & Service Centre in Wakefield, the project ensures long-term service support for end-users and sustained economic benefits for the region.

“Tranter was an early pioneer in post-combustion carbon capture pilot plants as far back as 2010–2011, gaining deep expertise in design and operations,” said Thomas Cassirer, Vice President, Segments & Marketing. “As carbon capture commercializes globally, we’re proud to support one of the largest decarbonization projects to date and contribute to achieving Net Zero.”

Tranter’s heat exchangers featuring ThermoFit® GT-series plates with the Omniflex pattern will be deployed across the plant’s carbon capture process, optimized for high NTU performance at controlled pressure drops—ideal for regenerable solvent-based systems.

“As demand for low-carbon technologies accelerates, Tranter continues to deliver trusted solutions backed by a global support network,” added Filip Berggren, Area Sales Manager, EPC.
