TREDA Announces Plan to Build Solar Rooftops Across State

The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) has announced its plans to produce 70 MW of power by attaching solar panels to rooftops of government buildings across the state. This decision comes off the heels of a recent study which showed that over 2000 of Tripura’s buildings have rooftops which are suitable for installing solar panels.
The initiative will also help the state shift from its reliance on natural gas to a more clean and sustainable method of generating energy to meet Tripura’s rapidly increasing energy demand. Currently, Tripura generates 26 MW of solar power, and a plan to increase that amount by 10 MW has been set. This project is expected to generate employment and skill development opportunities for workers across the state.
