UP to Secure 1,200 MW of Wind Power Through SECI, SJVN Tenders

Uttar Pradesh is set to procure up to 1,200 MW of wind power through two central procurement tenders conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and SJVN. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) adopted tariffs for 600 MW under SJVN’s Wind-3 tender and 1,200 MW under SECI’s Wind Tranche-XIX tender.

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) is the identified buyer for 600 MW under each tender. CERC adopted tariffs of Rs. 3.64 to Rs. 3.65 per unit for SJVN’s capacity and Rs. 3.67 to Rs. 3.69 per unit for SECI’s tranche. The two orders cover 1,800 MW across the tenders, with 1,200 MW linked to Uttar Pradesh’s procurement plans.

Under SJVN’s tender, UPPCL has given in-principle consent to procure the full 600 MW. However, the power sale agreement was still being processed when CERC considered the petition, making tariff adoption subject to SJVN completing the required power purchase and power sale agreements. The capacity is therefore planned procurement rather than fully contracted supply.

SECI’s arrangements are more advanced. It has executed a power sale agreement with UPPCL for 600 MW and another with GRIDCO, Odisha, for the remaining 600 MW. The agreements were signed in March 2026, and SECI has also executed corresponding power purchase agreements with developers for the entire 1,200 MW.

KPI Green Energy secured 300 MW in SJVN’s tender at Rs. 3.64 per unit, while Urdhvaga Renewables India Project and Adyant Enersol received 120 MW and 110 MW, respectively, at the same tariff. Lambent Energy (Eight) secured 70 MW at Rs. 3.65 per unit. In SECI’s tender, awards included 300 MW for Waaree Forever Energies at Rs. 3.68 per unit, while the remaining 620 MW was allocated among four developers at Rs. 3.68 to Rs. 3.69 per unit. CERC also permitted a trading margin of up to Rs. 0.07 per unit where contractual safeguards are provided, limiting it to Rs. 0.02 per unit otherwise.
