Vedanta Group has launched its #GoodStartsWithUs campaign as part of Sustainability Month, reinforcing its focus on environmental stewardship, climate action, water conservation and community welfare across its operations.

Ahead of World Environmental Health Day, the month-long initiative will bring together Vedanta’s sustainability efforts across its businesses. The company has encouraged employees to take sustainability pledges and adopt weekly actions focused on reducing energy consumption, conserving water, supporting biodiversity and responsible waste management.

The initiative will include plantation drives, clean-up activities, sustainability carnivals, workshops and DIY activities focused on waste segregation, reuse and upcycling. Sustainability Month will centre around four themes — Climate Change & Biodiversity, Waste & Water, Health & Safety, and Community Welfare.

Vedanta is leveraging technology, data and scientific assessment to strengthen environmental monitoring through systems such as Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems, ambient monitoring stations and the Enablon ESG platform. At Hindustan Zinc, advanced recovery technologies are being used to recover zinc, lead and silver from residues, while a proposed tailings reprocessing plant aims to process over 86 million tonnes of legacy tailings.

The company has also highlighted its progress in renewable energy, emissions reduction and water stewardship. Vedanta stated that it has achieved 20 GW of renewable energy capacity, mitigated 28 million tonnes of carbon over five years and reduced GHG emissions intensity by 14 per cent from its FY2020-21 baseline.

Through the #GoodStartsWithUs campaign, Vedanta aims to align its sustainability initiatives with global goals, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, while supporting India’s transition towards responsible industrial growth.
