VSL Wins Rs 810-Cr O&M Deal for 810 MWp NGEL Solar Assets

VSL Renewable Services has secured a Rs 810 crore operation and maintenance (O&M) contract for 810 MWp of NTPC Green Energy’s (NGEL) solar power projects spread across Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The contract duration is 36 months.

The tender, issued in January 2025, was divided into two lots: Lot 1 for 1,054 MWp and Lot 2 for 810 MWp. VSL emerged as the lowest bidder in both categories, but was awarded only Lot 2 in accordance with NTPC’s tender guidelines.

Advanced Monitoring and Tailored Strategies
The O&M scope will employ artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) tools to detect anomalies, optimise performance, and conduct predictive diagnostics. VSL is responsible for maintaining consistent energy output and meeting contractual performance guarantees.

The company will implement region-specific solutions:

  • Rajasthan: Dust mitigation and thermal control for arid conditions.
  • Madhya Pradesh: Grid synchronisation and terrain-specific operations.
  • Andhra Pradesh: Corrosion control and coastal resilience measures.
Technical and Operational Scope
VSL must:
  • Monitor and respond to string outages and inverter tripping.
  • Restore system operations promptly.
  • Operate control rooms 24/7.
  • Provide periodic reports on energy generation and system status.
  • Clean drains, cable trenches, and box culverts regularly.
  • Perform 18 module cleaning cycles annually.
The contract also mandates:
  • Annual maintenance contracts and spares agreements.
  • Operational-level agreements for battery chargers, UPS systems, and power packs.
  • Annual testing of all spares and in-use components.
In July 2025, NGEL also floated bids for short-term O&M contracts—160 MW at Jetstar and 250 MW at Shimbhu ki Bhurj-I in Rajasthan—highlighting its continuing focus on high-efficiency solar asset management across India.
