Xbattery, a Hyderabad-based deep-tech company specialising in next-generation energy storage and battery management technologies, has introduced its flagship XB-5K, a scalable 5kWh energy storage system designed for homes and offices in India.

The XB-5K is built on the company’s indigenously developed BharatBMS platform, described as India’s first universal high-voltage battery management system architecture aimed at reducing import dependence and improving after-sales service capabilities. The launch comes as India seeks to strengthen domestic manufacturing and address reliance on imported battery management systems, particularly from China, which continues to hold a significant share of global exports in this segment.

Weighing 37 kg, the plug-and-play system delivers up to 5kWh of backup power, capable of supporting electronic devices and appliances, including air conditioners, for up to 24 hours. Designed as a portable and safe energy storage solution, the system uses lithium iron phosphate cells to ensure long operational life and stable performance. It also integrates data analytics features to optimise energy use for residential and small office applications.

The launch responds to growing energy demand in India, where expanding supply has been accompanied by persistent power outages that disrupt households and business operations. An indigenously developed and affordable energy storage ecosystem is a necessity for the sustainable development of India. It’ll increase productivity, reduce import dependence, and simultaneously capitalise on export opportunities.”

The BharatBMS platform incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities, enabling predictive outage response, real-time charge monitoring, adaptive cell balancing and advanced thermal management. These features are designed to extend battery life by up to 15% while reducing operational costs through local design and manufacturing.

Sonu Mishra, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Xbattery, said the system integrates real-time analytics, remote diagnostics and automatic upgrades, supporting diverse energy needs ranging from residential use to industrial applications.

The company recently raised USD 2.3 million in seed funding to accelerate research, design and manufacturing, targeting India’s rapidly expanding energy storage market.
