Can India Build the World’s Next CE Hub?
India’s construction equipment industry is entering a defining decade. As infrastructure investment expands, supply chains diversify and global manufacturers look beyond traditional production bases, the country has a rare opportunity to move from import dependence to manufacturing leadership. The ambition is no longer limited to making more machines in India; it is about designing, localising, validating and exporting equipment that can compete in global markets.
The sector is already on a strong growth trajectory. India’s construction equipment market is estimated at around $ 10.5 billion in FY25 and is projected to move towards $ 25 billion by 2030. If realised, this would place India among the world’s largest construction equipment markets. But scale alone will not define success. The real test will be whether India can deepen domestic value addition, strengthen supplier capability, improve reliability, build export confidence and create a globally competitive industrial ecosystem.
