Liebherr has announced significant enhancements to its Generation 8 crawler excavators, introducing new settings and advanced assistance systems aimed at improving performance, energy efficiency and ease of operation. The latest developments further strengthen the company’s offering in line with evolving market requirements across demanding construction and earthmoving applications.
A key addition is the Liebherr Power Efficiency (LPE) mode, a patented energy management system that is now integrated as standard on R 922 to R 945 Generation 8 models. The system continuously optimises the interaction between hydraulics and the diesel engine, reducing fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent without compromising productivity. LPE mode can be easily activated, stores operator preferences, and also provides a temporary performance boost for key movements, ensuring precise and efficient operation across varied job sites.
Liebherr has also introduced an innovative diesel exhaust fluid filling pump designed to enhance safety and ergonomics. The system enables direct ground-level filling, eliminating the risk of overflow, contamination and corrosion, while removing the need for operators to climb onto the upper carriage. When combined with the fuel filling pump, the solution offers faster refuelling and improved convenience on busy construction sites.
Generation 8 crawler excavators are now available with a suite of advanced assistance systems, including the Leica 2D control system, bucket filling assistant (BFA), integrated weighing device and Skyview 360° safety system. The Leica 2D control system, now standard, delivers ±2 cm precision for levelling and earthmoving tasks and can be expanded to “3D-ready” options for higher accuracy. The BFA automates bucket filling to optimise excavation cycles, while the weighing system provides real-time load measurement with ±2 per cent accuracy, helping prevent overloading and improve compliance.
Safety is further enhanced with the Skyview 360° system, which uses four high-resolution cameras to provide a complete all-round view, improving visibility in tight or low-visibility environments.
Introduced globally in 2019, Liebherr’s Generation 8 crawler excavators continue to evolve with a future-ready design focused on performance, reduced fuel consumption, operator comfort and long-term reliability across diverse applications worldwide.
