Powerplay Crosses 40,000 Construction Companies on Platform
As the construction industry is projected to expand to USD 1.4 trillion by 2030, companies are turning to technology to improve accountability, speed up project delivery and strengthen coordination on site. Powerplay has seen strong ground-level engagement, with more than 20,000 site engineers, contractors and supervisors using the platform daily to improve communication and enable faster, data-driven decision-making.
The move towards structured digital workflows closely mirrors recommendations outlined in a recent whitepaper by Khaitan & Co and SCL India. The report highlights the importance of early risk identification, real-time documentation, transparent communication and data-backed decision-making to reduce delays and disputes in construction projects. Legal and project advisory experts have frequently identified poor documentation and ad-hoc processes as primary causes of claims and disruptions. Powerplay’s existing workflows align closely with these recommendations, enabling project teams to adopt best practices with greater ease.
“For decades, construction teams across India were managing projects worth billions of dollars using nothing more than a pen and paper. Powerplay is completely changing that reality,” said Iesh Dixit, Co-Founder and CEO, Powerplay. He added that reaching 40,000 companies on the platform demonstrates that even highly fragmented markets, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, are increasingly ready to adopt disciplined, transparent and faster ways of working. According to Dixit, the milestone reinforces Powerplay’s mission to become the core operating system for how India builds its next trillion dollars of infrastructure.
A key pillar of the platform is its standard operating procedure (SOP) framework, developed through experience gained from working with over 40,000 construction companies across more than 85,000 projects. These learnings have been consolidated into a structured set of SOPs that function as a practical, ready-to-use playbook for construction teams. Powerplay currently offers more than 50 SOP templates covering critical stages such as planning, site execution, billing, quality control and materials management. By enabling standardised workflows, the framework helps teams establish consistent and repeatable processes across multiple projects. Internal platform data indicates that adoption of these SOPs has led to tangible operational improvements, including reduced schedule overruns, lower material wastage and rework, and improved managerial effectiveness across sites.
A significant share of Powerplay’s growth is being driven by India’s smaller cities, with tier-2 and tier-3 markets accounting for nearly 40 per cent of all active projects on the platform. This trend highlights rising demand for structured processes and dependable digital tools in regions that have traditionally faced challenges related to fragmented operations and limited on-site visibility. By addressing industry-specific challenges such as frequent labour changes and unpredictable site conditions, Powerplay is building a scalable operational blueprint aimed at supporting the evolving needs of India’s construction ecosystem.
