The global energy transition and carbon-neutrality drive are fuelling rapid growth in the energy-storage sector, with large-scale projects demanding highly efficient lifting solutions. Responding to these evolving needs, SANY has expanded its portfolio of energy-storage reach stackers with the launch of the world’s first 50-ton model on August 1, 2025.
Earlier this year, SANY’s 65-ton reach stacker rolled off the assembly line and has since been operating seamlessly at a customer site for nearly six months. With the addition of the 50-ton variant, SANY aims to provide tailored solutions for diverse working conditions, combining robust lifting performance, exceptional energy efficiency, and reliable endurance.
Powerful Lifting Performance
The 50-ton reach stacker is designed specifically for ISO 20-foot and 40-foot energy storage containers. It offers a stacking capacity of up to six containers, maximising storage density in limited spaces. With a maximum hoisting capacity of 50 tons, it enables efficient transfer and installation of heavy energy-storage cabinets while ensuring stability and precision.
Outstanding Energy Efficiency
Equipped with an advanced electric control pump and intelligent algorithm-based current regulation, the machine minimises energy losses. Its high-pressure hydraulic system reduces pressure loss by 50 per cent, further improving efficiency.
The stacker also features energy recovery technology, reclaiming over 65 per cent of potential energy during boom descent. For every 1 kWh of lifting energy consumed, 0.4 kWh can be recovered, significantly reducing operational costs.
Reliable Endurance for Large-Scale Projects
With large-scale energy storage projects often running on tight schedules, equipment endurance is critical. The 50-ton model consumes just 1.8 kWh per container move and is powered by a 512 kWh swappable battery system that supports both fast charging and battery swapping. This enables more than seven hours of continuous operation, minimising downtime and ensuring uninterrupted productivity.
Driving the Global Energy Transition
The first units of the 50-ton energy storage reach stacker are scheduled for delivery and customer operations in August 2025. Together with the 65-ton model, these machines represent SANY’s strategic response to industry needs and reinforce the company’s role in advancing green, efficient, and sustainable lifting solutions for the global energy transition.
Looking ahead, SANY will continue to strengthen its R&D efforts to accelerate low-carbon innovation and support the worldwide shift to sustainable energy.
