SEEPEX Launches Smart Joint Access for Inspection-Ready Pumping

SEEPEX has introduced Smart Joint Access (SJA), an inspection-friendly pump design integrated into its BN progressive cavity pump range, aimed at industrial applications where uptime, reliability and safe handling of challenging media are critical.
Smart Joint Access enables direct visual inspection of both pump joints through a large opening in the suction housing, allowing faster condition assessment without dismantling. The design supports precise and stable handling of shear-sensitive, abrasive and corrosive media, while maintaining a compact footprint suited to space-constrained installations such as mobile manufacturing units, underground operations, skid-mounted systems and stationary plants.
The BN pump with SJA has been developed for demanding applications including mining, tunnelling and construction, where consistent performance is essential. In rock blasting operations, accurate and reliable pumping of explosive emulsions is critical to achieving controlled fragmentation and avoiding rework or delays. SEEPEX said the new design supports consistent emulsion transfer and dosing by enabling quick inspection access and reducing downtime during maintenance cycles.
Commenting on the development, Magalie Levray, Global Business Development Manager – Mining at SEEPEX, said the Smart Joint Access concept improves pump availability and operational efficiency by allowing operators to assess joint condition quickly and maintain reliable pumping performance in uptime-critical environments.
The pump design incorporates an equal-wall stator to deliver high-pressure capability within a compact layout. It can be configured with a hydraulic drive for truck-mounted mobile units or an electric drive for underground and stationary installations. SEEPEX noted that the low-displacement hydraulic option reduces oil requirements and contributes to a lower total cost of ownership.
SEEPEX’s progressive cavity pump technology ensures stable, controlled flow while protecting product integrity, even when handling abrasive or shear-sensitive emulsions. The pumps are available with a range of material options, including stainless steel or steel housings, chrome-plated rotors and stators in NBR, EPDM or FKM, to ensure compatibility with diverse chemical media.
Applications for BN pumps with Smart Joint Access include rock blasting, shotcrete, mine dewatering, tunnelling, civil construction and dam projects, where routine inspection, pressure testing and continuous operation are essential. SEEPEX said the design supports faster inspections, standardised fleet deployment and improved availability through framework agreements and streamlined delivery timelines.
