SML, ACE Sign Strategic MoU To Boost Indian-Made Heavy Cranes

Under the MoU, SML will significantly expand its fleet with indigenously manufactured heavy slew cranes, including truck cranes and crawler cranes. The collaboration aims to strengthen SML’s service offerings while contributing directly to national priorities under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India programmes by reducing reliance on imported lifting equipment.

Strengthening Domestic Manufacturing

SML’s decision to integrate ACE-manufactured cranes supports domestic production of high-capacity equipment, enabling faster, more reliable and cost-efficient project execution across its extensive pan-India client base. ACE, in turn, will provide priority product support, bespoke technical solutions and customisation tailored to SML’s operational needs within India’s rapidly expanding infrastructure ecosystem.

The partnership is poised to drive major import substitution, stimulate local supply chain development and support employment generation, skills development and technological advancement. As a market leader, SML’s investment directly advances India’s ambition to become a global hub for world-class heavy lifting solutions.

Statements From Leadership

Managing Director of SML, Rishi C. Sanghvi, said the collaboration is a strategic enabler for sustainable growth under the company’s ELEVATE 2030 framework. “By expanding our fleet with domestically manufactured cranes, we reduce import dependency while ensuring superior serviceability, quicker turnaround time and stronger value creation within India’s economy.”

ACE Executive Director Sorab Agarwal highlighted the partnership’s broader sectoral impact: “India’s heavy slew crane market has historically depended on imports. Through this MoU, we are accelerating Make in India by offering indigenous alternatives that provide performance, safety and lifecycle value. This initiative strengthens national capability and supports genuine industrial self-reliance.”
