A major urban development project featuring 142 new residential units, an underground car park, and a supermarket is underway in Ulm, with two Liebherr EC-B tower cranes playing a central role in construction efficiency and precision.

The project, located at the corner of Karlsstraße and Neutorstraße, is being supported by Nagel Baumaschinen Ulm GmbH, a long-standing Liebherr sales and service partner, which has supplied both cranes from its rental fleet.

Given the limited site space, the project team selected the 370 EC-B 16 Fibre and 202 EC-B 10 Litronic models — both known for their compact design, power, and reliability.

The 370 EC-B 16 Fibre, mounted on a portal, delivers a 55-metre radius and 53.5-metre hook height, ideal for demanding lifts. Featuring Liebherr’s innovative fibre rope technology, the crane achieves up to 40% higher load capacity and offers a service life four times longer than conventional steel ropes. Its robust fibre rope construction ensures durability, while Liebherr’s modular service system enables on-site repairs, minimizing downtime.

Complementing it is the 202 EC-B 10 Litronic, mounted on foundation anchors with a 45-metre radius and 48-metre hook height. Its space-saving upper carriage, which integrates the slewing gear, slewing ring, and switchgear, makes it particularly suitable for tight urban construction sites.
