On Tuesday, the Ahmedabad civic body’s town planning and estate management department sealed 16 commercial units in Viratnagar for lack of building use (BU) permission.

The department teams closed 12 units in Block A of Falak Heights and four more units in Block B of the same society. The sealed units were working without valid building use (BU) approvals.

Owners of the properties that were sealed were released notices to obtain BU permissions. Yet, they ignored the notices, and continued working in unauthorised buildings, an Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) authority told the media.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation set up in July 1950 under the Bombay Provincial Corporation Act, 1949, is accountable for the civic infrastructure and administration of Ahmedabad.
