Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar on Monday assured that the government would issue appropriate directions to the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Commissioner and place the matter before a Cabinet Sub-Committee for necessary action following a delegation meeting at the State Secretariat in Velagapudi. Representatives of the Amaravati Journalists' Housing Society had called on the Principal Secretary to seek resolution of a long-pending housing scheme for scribes in Amaravati. The delegation presented a legal opinion and sought formal steps to clear procedural impediments.

The society submitted a legal opinion obtained from a former Registrar General of the Supreme Court and the delegates explained that, according to the counsel, there were no legal or procedural barriers preventing society members from constructing houses under the scheme. They urged that existing provisions be implemented so members could proceed with construction and that administrative clarity be provided to concerned departments. The Principal Secretary reviewed the documents and indicated an immediate administrative response would follow.

Suresh Kumar directed that a memo be dispatched without delay to the APCRDA Commissioner and outlined that the government would take all necessary steps to implement the provisions of Government Order Ms. No. 107. He conveyed that placing the issue before the Cabinet Sub-Committee was intended to obtain formal approvals and co-ordinate interdepartmental action to move the scheme forward. Officials were asked to ensure that the scheme's procedural and statutory dimensions received prompt attention.

The delegation also held discussions with Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Commissioner Himanshu Shukla, who observed that the government was addressing pending welfare issues for journalists alongside the capital's development. The commissioner noted that, given the special circumstances in Amaravati, there appeared to be no impediment to implementing the earlier Government Order and assured coordination with concerned departments to expedite the matter. The society was advised to maintain engagement with officials as the administrative process proceeded.
