Around two lakh property owners in Pune have not availed the 40% property tax discount offered by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The incentive, aimed at encouraging timely tax payments, has seen low participation despite being beneficial for residents.

According to officials, the discount was introduced to ease the financial burden on taxpayers and improve overall tax compliance. Property owners were expected to claim the rebate by submitting necessary documents, but many failed to do so, leading to missed savings.

The PMC had set the deadline for claiming the discount but has extended it in previous years to accommodate more property owners. However, with the current non-participation, there is a growing concern over the financial implications for both the city and its residents.

Authorities are now urging eligible property owners to come forward and claim their discount before the final deadline. The PMC continues to spread awareness through various channels to ensure that the benefits reach the intended recipients and improve tax collection efficiency.
