The Government of India has approved Rs 20.06 billion for post-disaster recovery efforts in Himachal Pradesh, following destruction caused by recent floods and landslides. This funding supports comprehensive restoration of critical infrastructure, damaged homes, and affected livelihoods.

The funds will be used to rebuild key infrastructure—such as roads, bridges, and public facilities—ensuring connectivity and essential services in remote areas. Additionally, damaged residential units will receive housing grants to assist displaced families in rebuilding.

A portion of the funding is earmarked for restoring community assets, including schools, health centres, and water supply systems, aimed at stabilising public life and supporting economic recovery in affected regions.

The sanctioned assistance reflects the central government’s commitment to swift and effective rehabilitation, complementing state efforts to provide relief and ensure long-term safety. Reconstruction work is expected to begin promptly, with an emphasis on resilience to reduce vulnerability to future natural calamities.
